Treasure Island

We set sail for Treasure Island and returned to the Admiral Heyho Inn victorious. We wonder if Long John and his brother Short Joe are still where we left them, marooned on the Island with only that huge parrot for company! More »

Variety Show a Great Success

The Variety Show in support of The British Legion

We raised a £1,000!

A big thank you to everyone who made it happen.

John would have been proud of us I’m sure.

We are so grateful to the many performers and audience who came along to our Variety Show.             More than a £1,000 was raised for the charity plus more than £90 In the exit collection.

Gerry Prendergast, chairman of the Woodmancote and District Branch,  read out the names of the many young men from Bishops Cleeve (then only a population of 800) who died during the First World War.  The list was long and included young men from the same families.  It was a very moving moment for members of the audience.  Music from the Glos Strings Ukuleles, Rhythm Strings and Cleeve Harmony as well as drama by the Players helped to make this a memorable evening in so many ways. For the show finale there was a minutes silence followed by Poppies dropping down onto the stage.

Thank you to everyone who supported us in other ways; George Lewis for selling our tickets, Danny’s Cafe for supplying the most excellent Brownies,Tony Acres for printing our banner for free, The Parish Council, The Ink Spot, Bishops Cleeve Tithe Barn and Members of the Woodmancote & District Branch of the RBL (thank you Ann for preparing all those poppies!)

Well done everyone!
